NAEB awards best farmers in Rwanda’s Sericulture sector

Kigali, 08 August 2024 – The National Agricultural Export Development Board (NAEB) has recognized and awarded the best farmers in Rwanda's sericulture sector. This event celebrated the outstanding contributions of farmers who have significantly advanced the production and quality of silk in Rwanda, showcasing their dedication to boosting the country’s agricultural export potential.

The event highlighted the strides made in the sector, particularly in improving silk production techniques, which have enhanced the quality and quantity of silk exports.

Mr. Jean Bosco MULINDI, the Emerging Commodities Division Manager at NAEB, praised the farmers' efforts in his address during the ceremony. He emphasized the importance of sericulture in diversifying Rwanda's agricultural exports and acknowledged the hard work and resilience of the farmers in achieving remarkable results.

"Sericulture is more than just an agricultural activity; it is a key driver in our journey toward diversifying Rwanda’s export portfolio. The dedication and innovation shown by our farmers are the backbone of this success. Today, we celebrate not only their achievements but also the future of sericulture industry in Rwanda," said Mr. Jean Bosco MULINDI.

The awarded farmers were recognized for their exceptional practices in mulberry cultivation, silkworm rearing, and cocoon production. These awards are part of NAEB's ongoing efforts to incentivize and support farmers in emerging sectors, ensuring sustainable growth and increased competitiveness in international markets.
