Prices of Rwandan tea rise in October 2019

During the month of October 2019, at the renowned African tea auction market in Mombasa, Kenya, a total of 42,461,907 Kilos were sold at an average price of US $ 2.22 per Kilo. Rwanda sold 1,968,267 Kilos at an average price of $ 3.07 per Kilo followed by Kenya which sold the biggest volume of teas (33,971,386) at an average price of US $ 2.33 among other countries.

 In October 2018, Rwanda had sold 1,708,711 Kilos at an average price of US $ 2.72 per Kilo followed by Kenya that had sold 34,098,480 Kilos at an average price of US $ 2.42.

 It is in this month also that the Rwandan Nyabihu Tea Factory recorded the highest tea price ever at this regional auction - selling its BP1 grade at US $6.64 per Kilo.

 In this month (October 2019), the Rwandan teas were sold to UK, Pakistani, Egyptian, Kazakhstani, Afghanistan and Middle East markets among others.
