Rwanda hosts the 6th African Tea Convention and Exhibition

The 6th African Tea Convention and Exhibition, hosted at the Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village from October 9 to 11, 2024, has come to a successful close, bringing together participants from across the globe. Under the theme "Harmony in the Cup: Promoting Tea for People and the Planet," the event attracted industry leaders, innovators, and tea enthusiasts, creating a platform for the exchange of knowledge and collaboration in the global tea sector.

The convention, organized by the East African Tea Trade Association (EATTA), gathered 476 delegates, including 108 from outside Africa, reflecting the international scope of the event. The exhibition showcased the finest tea blends, advanced technologies, and innovative tea-related products, celebrating both the rich traditions and forward-thinking innovations within the tea industry.

In his closing remarks, Claude BIZIMANA, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Agricultural Export Development Board (NAEB), expressed his gratitude to EATTA for selecting Rwanda as the host of this year’s edition. "We are deeply honored to have been chosen by EATTA to host the 6th African Tea Convention and Exhibition. It has been a tremendous success, thanks to the unwavering support of our sponsors and partners. Their contributions have been instrumental in making this event possible."

BIZIMANA also commended the remarkable turnout of delegates. "I want to thank all of you for turning up in big numbers. This year’s edition attracted 476 delegates, 108 of whom came from outside Africa, further solidifying the global significance of this convention."

The three-day event featured a variety of panel discussions, presentations, and exhibitions, covering key topics such as tea cultivation, market trends, and sustainability practices in the tea industry. BIZIMANA highlighted the invaluable contributions made by speakers and participants. "We've had the privilege to hear from experts, innovators, and enthusiasts who have shared invaluable knowledge, insights, and passion. Whether it was about the cultivation of tea, the latest trends in the market, or the role of sustainability in our industry, each session has brought something unique and thought-provoking to the table."

The exhibition hall was another major highlight of the convention, where participants had the opportunity to explore some of the finest tea blends, alongside cutting-edge technologies and creative applications in the tea industry. "The exhibitions we’ve explored were nothing short of extraordinary, showcasing the finest blends, innovative technologies, and creative applications of tea. It was a true celebration of both tradition and innovation, highlighting the dynamic future ahead for the tea industry." BIZIMANA noted

The 6th African Tea Convention and Exhibition not only provided a platform for knowledge sharing and networking but also underscored the importance of promoting sustainability within the tea industry.
