Taste of Rwanda Trade Mission kicks off in London: A platform to boost bilateral trade and investment
The "Taste of Rwanda" event has officially launched in London, bringing together over 20 Rwandan agri-export companies to explore new opportunities for enhancing bilateral trade and investment between the UK and Rwanda. This trade mission aims to connect suppliers of Rwanda’s diverse agricultural and horticultural products with distributors, retailers, and consumers in the UK market.
Prominent attendees at the event included Rwanda’s High Commissioner to the UK, Johnston Busingye, UK High Commissioner to Rwanda, Alison Thorpe, and National Agricultural Export Development Board (NAEB) CEO, Claude Bizimana. Chantele Carr, CEO of Invest Africa, and representatives from the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) also joined the event to discuss potential trade collaborations.
The event is part of a broader effort to showcase the rapid diversification of Rwanda's horticulture and agriculture sectors. As Rwanda’s agricultural products, such as coffee, tea, fresh produce, and flowers, continue to gain recognition in global markets, this trade mission provides a platform for stakeholders to engage in meaningful dialogue on trade opportunities.
The “Taste of Rwanda” event follows the momentum built by the inaugural UK-Rwanda Business Forum held in January 2024. The forum successfully opened up discussions between UK and Rwandan businesses and public sector leaders regarding bilateral trade and investment. Building on these discussions, the current trade mission seeks to solidify partnerships, expand market access for Rwandan products, and strengthen economic ties between the two nations.
The collaboration between Invest Africa, the High Commission of Rwanda UK, the British High Commission in Kigali, RDB, and NAEB highlights the commitment to creating lasting trade connections. By showcasing the high-quality and diverse products that Rwanda has to offer, this event aims to boost Rwanda’s exports while offering UK businesses access to new, sustainable agricultural supplies.
As Rwanda's agri-export sector continues to thrive and expand into international markets, events like "Taste of Rwanda" demonstrate the country's dedication to fostering strong economic partnerships and attracting global investors to its growing agricultural industry.
