Smart Food Value Chain Management (SFVCM) Project
The Smart Food Value Chain Management (SFVCM) Project is a four-year (2022-2026) initiative being carried out by the Rwandan Government through the National Agricultural Export Development Board (NAEB) and the Republic of Korea through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
Objectives:
- To reduce post-harvest losses of chili and onion in both quantity and quality through post-harvest management using proper processing facilities and technologies;
- To strengthen the capacity of related government officials, technical staff, cooperative staff and farmers in 4 targeted areas including commercial traders;
- To increase the income of smallholder farmers by improving their salability marketability required by the market with price bargaining power between farmers, producers, and export traders;
- To establish a virtuous value-added structure in the total process stage of the value chain, from production to harvest and price/market information with the establishment of an ICT system
Beneficiaries
The project is expected to directly benefit 5,198 people/farmers from 6 cooperatives of Komezimihigo in Bugesera District, Muvumba P8 in Nyagatare District, Kora Ukire Muyanza, Dukundumurimo Muyanza in Rulindo District, KOTURU, KOBATU in Rubavu District.
